LOL - Many years ago we visited Lake Wales for Bok Tower and we actually stopped into this restaurant - however when we saw the menu prices, we turned around and walked back out - the ONLY time we have ever done that! But back then we were not doing well financially and there was just no way we could have spent that kind of money for dinner. I always wanted to go back there for a special event, I have heard wonderful things about it. I think one would just have to look at it as a "vacation" event due to the price. Check it out and let me know, would ya?

A favorite day trip for those in the Tampa area is also Dade City (where we used to live). It is 35 mi NE of Tampa, but you feel like you are in a totally different state - virtually no palm trees, large rolling hills, and moss covered oaks, it is really gorgeous. The downtown has a lot of antique shops and some cafes and an old restored courthouse. A couple miles north of downtown there is an old Pioneer Museum with many very old buildings that have been moved there.
Dade City Chamber Of Commerce
Best place to eat if you go is Kafe Kokopelli, LOVE that place!

Gainesville and Micanopy are the best! Don't miss the Old Florida Cafe in Micanopy - I really miss that place! I like going to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings' (author of The Yearling) house and farm in nearby Cross Creek. I have been all over Florida and have found north central FL to be the most charming. Mount Dora (near Orlando) is a fun place to visit, too. And you can't beat Key West, of course.

Well if your looking for small charming towns i would have to say Monticello(Jefferson County) or Apalachicola(Franklin County) For large towns i would have to say Tallahassee(856,000 People) or Key West(79.000 people)
