It's a tough choice, the Gulf is beautiful, but I'm gonna have to go with oceanside.
I too like the waves, and while I love the creatures of the sea, I sometimes get a bit freaked out when the fishies, large or small, are swimming there with me in the Gulf. The Gulf seems to be just seething with marine life, and this is really cool, but sometimes disconcerting.

Gulf side - the snow white sands, the calm turquoise water, and the SUNSETS!

I prefer the Atlantic side. I like the waves, the natural sand, and cooler water temps.

That's a tough one.
I like them both really; i guess it depends on what mood I'm in.
The gulf I like for the sunsets and peaceful waters. Once you get out a couple of miles the water gets very blue with green tints, and is extremely clear.
I find the atlantic ocean side to be more attractive and more interesting. I really like the atlantic side intracoastal waterway, which is very relaxing also.

Yes that's a plus for the gulf. Usually they follow along side the boat, and my kid loves it.

Gulf side gets Red Tide too often. When it is present, the beaches are uninhabitable.

Im not sure, they both have their strengths. The emerald coast really looks splendid from the shore.
But I also have something for St Augustine cause I went there growing up.
I say you can't lose with either of them Florida Rocks!

I grew up going to both...Now much prefer the Gulf coast with whiter sand and calmer warmer water. Waves of the ocean were more fun years back...Lido Beach, St. Pete Beach, Clearwater Beach, are some of the best on the west coast. I've little experience with the Emerald Coast of the Destin area in the panhandle but the times I have seen it it was simply breath taking...
