Free Florida services
If you find a free Florida service that will benefit our residents, please post:
Teachers can get free tax preparation Cape Coral:
Teachers, school employees and bus drivers can get their taxes done for free
if they are new customers at a Cape Coral tax service office. Liberty Tax Service is accepting these customers for free if they come in by Saturday, according to a release from Hugo J. Striedinger, store manager.
The store is at 601 Del Prado Blvd #3 in Cape Coral. "We have Appreciation Days to show our respect for the teaching profession and those employed by the schools," Striedinger said. "They have one of the most important jobs, yet the monetary rewards may be greater for those in private business with comparable levels of education." Call 574-6167 for more information.

Florida 2-1-1 Network
The Florida 2-1-1 Network is a cooperative effort of the Florida Alliance of Information and Referral Services and the United Way of Florida to fulfill the mandate of SB 1276, adopted by the Florida State Legislature in 2002, to make 2-1-1 available to every person in Florida. The Network is a collaboration of the eleven active 2-1-1 regional and local call centers that currently serve 33 of our 67 counties, providing 2-1-1 access to 75% of our population, and handling over 500,000 calls per year. Eight additional call centers are under development.

Floridians likely get another sales tax break on hurricane supplies
Not really free, but no tax..... t looks as though Floridians will get another sales tax break on hurricane supplies this summer. The House Policy and Budget Council approved legislation that would provide the J une first through 12th sales tax holiday on hurricane supplies .
The plan would eliminate sales taxes on such items as flashlights, batteries, weather radios, fuel tanks, portable generators and storm shutters that cost 200 dollars or less, savings more than $20 million this year.
