Panhandle vacation tips
My wife and I are meeting another couple somewhere in the Panhandle for Memorial Day weekend and I'd like some tips on where to stay and maybe what to do - besides BBQ, drink, and a whole lot of nothing. We're looking at Destin, mostly.
We're in our late 20s to early 30s with no kids. We don't want spring break craziness but a little nightlife would be nice - I'm thinking beach bar with a two-bit Jimmy Buffet cover band - nothing much.
Any suggestions for locations? Rentals? I'd like to check out Seaside while I'm up there but it seems a bit expensive. Is it worth it?
Thanks,
E. Roamer

Seaside is really nice, but it sure is pricey.
What about Grayton Beach?
You'd get your peace and quiet, but there are a few fun bars, too--and some nice restaurants.

I'd second Grayton Beach. A little bit off the beaten path, but a number of restaurants and bars within easy walk/bike distance.

For Seaside, check out Bud & Alleys.
In Grayton Beach, you must visit the famous Red Bar.

Perdido Key, FL
Hey you like Jimmy buffet? Try Perdido Key, FL for a vacation. Not nearly as "spring-breaky" as Destin. There is a great restaurant called "LuLu's" which Lucy Buffet owns and it's a great local spot for Jimmy Buffet lovers. Also, the FloraBama is a great local bar right on the state line and the Jellyfish Bar is a great place to have martinis and listen to live music. Also, check out the Wharf, which is a great place for concerts, live music, bars, and amazing restaurants. Check out more at perdidochamber.com. I hope this helped! Good luck!
