Any advice on seeking a job in the Florida health field?
How is the health field like in Florida? What is it like being a LPN (Of course soon to be RN) in Florida? I am in Virginia right now, where business is booming for the medical field but I am tired of the lifestyle here. I know standard of living is lower in FL but just how in demand is a LPN right now?
I was hoping to move where a VA Medical facility was located but none are hiring. Is there a real need for LPNs right now in Florida? I would rather work at a hospital but I really don't have a preference. I don't really know the Florida areas well so I'll move where ever a job is open first and cope with location later. No where can be worse than here. Anyone here with any experience in the medical field in Florida? Any advice on the matter would be appreciated.
**Also on another note would my VA Medical license carry over to FL? How does that work when moving to a different state? Do I have to retake a test or am I fine?

I had a friend just complete LPN school. She had a terrible time finding a job. Finally got one in a doctor's office.
My wife is in nursing school right now. We are confident she will find a job as an RN, although the job market is tighter than in the past.
No idea on the licensing.

It used to be easy. It has started to pick up a little, especially for RNs.

My wife is an RN. I would suggest looking at the classified ads for different newspapers in the areas you are considering. This link may help. Florida Newspapers
There are always more LPN positions than RN positions, but that is a reflection of the difference in pay and job duties. A good worker quickly builds a good reputation. Good luck in your future.

Yeah but I'm only a LPN for now. Thanks guys! I'm not asking you all to look for a job for me, although it is kind. I was just wondering if people knew if their location was known for health jobs or not. Like how Durham or Raleigh is, does Florida have a dedicated section for the medical field?

The biggest medical centers are in Gainesville (Shands), Miami (Jackson) and Tampa (Tampa General).
