I have only seen a couple of scary spiders in the 3 years I"ve lived here. I have seen more than my fair share of palmetto bugs, though. :shiver:

Like you I am not a fan of spiders. I live by a simple agreement with them. Live outside and I will leave you alone, come in my house and die. I had a banana spider make a web between some plants. she was amazing and beautiful. I took a picture of her and posted it on myspace... Im MySpace.com - Ken - 49 - Male - ORLANDO, Florida - www.myspace.com/o1guy on that if you want to see it. Now the wolf spiders I am really not a fan of they are large and aggressive. One night we found one in the bedroom and I was naked running around trying to kill this spawn of the underworld. Then all of a sudden I could not find it for a second and it jumped on my back... I moved so fast I left it in the air. I'm sure it was a spectacle to watch but I was not amused. He violated the rule and paid the price. FL has one less spider in it. :-)

Yeah I agree with you about the spiders. Not to long ago I saw a huge spider I don't know what type it was but I walked right underneath it and right when I did I looked up and I could of swore it was looking right back at me.It was kinda funny beacause I screamed and my horse took off.But I mean I've lived her in FL it feels like forever but I've never seen a spider that big and first I could or sworen it was the size of a baseall although it was a good 5 inches not kidding.

I am thinking of moving to the university area of Orlando and have been reading all of the spider comments while laughing my head off. I'm sure there are huge, beautiful spiders over there (I'm in CA), but I would most likely exterminate one if it was in my home. I've heard that if you fumigate your home and outside of house regularly, you shouldn't have a problem. Yes, bugs are useful and we need them (but not in my house!). So, for those of you who are terrified, just remember that they won't hurt you and are afraid of you, too.

kristin4 is on a distinguished road
My parents lived in Naples in the woods, I went there on a visit and helped my dad with the yard work. I opened the detached 2 car garage door and walked straight into this huge, sticky spider web. It was across the whole distance of the opening of the door. I became totally wrapped up in this web. I actually ended up throwing up in total fear of being bitten and eaten. I nearly stripped naked infront of my Dad just trying to get it off of me. I still get worked up thinking about that day!!!

I also found a black widow spider in my shoe and one in my swimming suit. Luckily both were dead. My dad was an avid sprayer. There were loads of spiders outside, but only dead ones inside. The only living thing I found inside was actually in the garage and that was a scorpion that I almost stepped on barefoot. The darn thing ran right undermy foot when I was taking a step.

Uh, remind me why I want to move to south Florida???!!!!

sorry, had to add the picture of the web. I know you said no pictures, but I am a rebel of sorts. Plus, I wanted to share with the people that are not familiar with the webs what I ran into.
