It was a couple pages back, no biggie. Ocala is definitely different from Orlando.

Yes, Florida is the highest transient state and Orlando isn't exactly small town America without its share of transients. I think someone was sold a bill of goods or something.

If you read my earlier posts, you'll see I never mentioned moving to Orlando (which isn't the only town in Central Florida by a long shot) in any of them. I specifically referenced Ocala and Marion County.

That's what we're counting on. A resort is a nice place to visit -- not live. It's like the Bronx -- I love going to Yankee Stadium, but I could never live in the City.

Yankee stadium, maybe? For historical value.
But the Bronx? No thanks. S FL has enough of the "Bronx" I can handle. LOL.

Maybe its that area--there are more newish, less established areas over there, right? By 10+ years I mean I get the feeling they are planning to stay, not just breezing through here.

I wouldnt say 10 yrs is a really long time. In general, do you not see Orlando as very transient? Even my family members who have lived here for a while hate how transient it is here. It's only gotten worse the last 5-10 yrs as things have DRASTICALLY changed in Central FL.

We lived in Clermont (near Orlando) for a year and LOVED IT. Our friends own a home in Ocoee and we also have family in Bradenton, Largo, Clearwater and Tampa. (All close I know,).
The only reason I left was because I was down there for an internship and a temp position, but my entire family is here in WV. We are seriously considering moving to FL next year. I miss it so much.
We never had any issues with crime and taxes were low. Our rental property was excellent, a nice community and we often walked at night without worry. We lived less than 10 minutes from Animal Kingdom and MGM (now Hollywood studios) and it was great to be able to go to the parks on weekends. Universal was close by, as well as Sea World.
I miss Fl so much... just trying to ensure employment and the right community for us!

The old Stadium had amazing historical value (my father went to the Stadium as an 8-year-old in 1923, the year it opened) -- but that will be gone by the end of this year.
I've loved going there -- I can be at the Stadium (via public transportation from my home in North Jersey) in an hour and ten minutes if I make every connection just right; it takes 90 minutes if I miss a train. It's so much better than driving.
