I don't know anyone believes it never gets cold here, although maybe it could be said about the lower Keys. You have to go further south for that kind of weather.

Somebody said they have worn nothing but shorts in 40 years. Other than being in the Keys, I am pretty far south.

But thanks anyway for the tip on the winter gear. Never thought about garage sales to find winter clothes. I remember Walmart selling parkas, but didn't see them this year.

I don't live there, but I totally agree. We were down there one time when it was definitely chilly. No shorts for two days.
Actually, I had a hooded jacket and slacks on and I was cold. I was surprised that it gets that cool in central Fla. Of course, it was about 50 degrees colder back home.
The good thing is that it warmed up nicely before noon and it was very shortlived. In the northern states, the cold can move in by Sept. already and not leave until May. Not the norm, but it's happened.

I have to tell you, when you go to thrift shops and garage sales. There seems like there must be a business in buying them and selling them up north. Although, ebay and Craig's list has probably already done that. I bought a London Fog coat at a church sale for $5.00. I have no need for this coat at all but it is like what you may see someone waring on the streets of NY. or Wall Street. Zip out lining and very high end. I may just stuff it in a flat rate priority box and send it to a relative in NJ. It is a shame to not see it put to good use.
Amazing, those winter clothes become worth nothing down here. As far as the winters. It really only gets cold at night and warms up as soon as the sun is up. You can count on your fingers the number of days it is actually cold to any extent during the day. In the winter all I may ware is a jacket and shorts. As long as you keep you core warm that is all you really need. It feels really good and brisk. I should add, I live in Fort Lauderdale. North Florida can get very cold. Florida is almost 400 miles long straight north, so it has more then one climate at times.

Cold is relative. Those who moved from up north should be able to handle a few days or weeks a year of 40 degree weather. If not, Saigon may be more to your liking.

We joke that that; by Noon you are carrying around that jacket with you. Although some days, I still wear long sleeves when I carry around that jacket.

on ebay. I go to NY in the Fall and Winter. It was 9 degrees when I went in January. Definitely needed a down jacket. I suppose if you are never going to go back north again, you won't need it. My daughters still live there. I prefer to go see them because I want to go to NY in the Fall and Winter. We are going there for Christmas this year. My daughter doesn't want to come to Florida again for Christmas. So I get to use my down coat.
Last winter we got into the low 40s in Naples. Immokalee got below freezing. That is only about 10 miles from where I live. Yes, the temps can vary.

My husband was a department manager -- dairy and frozen for the first few years, then, when the store expanded, he was just the frozen manager (and yes, he was frozen!).
