Hey that's the first I've heard about Publix coming to Cookeville and Crossville. Is that really true? If so, that is WONDERFUL news!! Is there any way to find out for sure?

Although interesting, this doesn't really tell you anything. You need to go to the property appraisers sites and find out the numbers, millage rates, exemptions as they apply to your plan. Many have tax calculators.

The insurance is all over the place as far as price and will need a lot of research to find what your circumstances will be.

Thanks, Macguy! I have been on the property appraisers sites. Even better, I call their offices and talk to the people who work there and ask them about the area (after all, they live there)! Still, saves a lot of research to already know which areas have the really high taxes.

Polk County Lakeland Florida 2140 sq ft new home purchased 9-2005 195 thousand, Taxes this year 2476.00, HO insurance 1300. Tax Milage 17.00 per thousand. One of most reasonable in state of Florida.
From what I have researched Manatee and Hillsborough is almost twice that amount on taxes.

Levy County still has that beat (Bronson) but we are rural!

Alachua is bad, I want to move into Gainesville but just can't. I live 3 miles outside the Alachua County limits (Levy side) and pay a fraction of what you pay for more land and almost the same size home so I gladly drive 35 min to work @ UF!
