These people would jump at the opportunity to reap social benefits if a political party ever became organized enough to sign them up.

I wasn't at all denying the existence of an underclass, however. You will also see those kind of scenes in a Wal-Mart anywhere in Florida, not just South Florida.

I do not hold back that is for sure.
Now go back and RE READ it again and again until you get it.

If you pay taxes then this has NOTHING to do with you.

Re read, I said many times over, those who do not pay taxes or work to pay into our tax base is what is killing us.

Since you pay taxes then why would you care what I said.

And since your business may be boating based on your name, bet 75% or more of your business came from those darn northerners who came with money.

So being a former northerner as you state then you are saying you too have ruined Florida?

Sorry to say this but I will, Florida is getting ruined not by people from the north. How about the people from the south of you.

Please re read what my post says. And yes, I believe that our society is hurting because we have overloaded the system with those who wont work for anything and are not paying into the tax base. Yet, these same people are taking out of ME AND YOUR kitty to live on, use and eat off of us.

The Florida economy is no worse then many, many other states. Look outside of Florida. Good example is Michigan, no jobs to be had anywhere, far worse then Florida will ever dream of.

I dont even know where to begin with all that, but as a former "northerner" who started a business, paid more than my fair share of taxes, I'd have to say you may be just a bit over the top here.

That being said, I'd agree that we are a ways off from equalling the blatant stupidity seen in California. However in the just under twenty years I've been here, I see it slipping ever so slightly in that direction. The process will speed up as the conservative "northerners" die off leaving the younger generation, brainwashed into the socialist regime by the public school system grow to take their inherent place in society. About another twenty years Florida should be about where California is today, I would think....

LOL, work on the chain gang for free....if the economy doesnt get a bit better here before long, people ARE gonna be "volunteering" for the chain gang by kicking a cop in the shin. At least it will be free housing and three squares a day. Even those $5.00 per hour jobs you say we all should go get are pretty hard to come by around these parts today.......

Just because someone shops at Publix does not automatically mean they are a card carrying member of the middle class!

I used to watch impoverished families walk to the Brickell Publix from somewhere West of Brickell just to fill their water jugs at the water machine in the front of the store. You could tell that this was a "family outing", and possibly the highlight of the day for these people.

Y'all have an attitude that FL is essentially a northern state, and northerners are the only people who ever do anything for Fl...... attitudes like that are the reason us Southerners lash out at northerners....

Uhhh making people work "for free" is slavery..... banned by constitutional amendment......

As for taxes......I certainly don't want them going up. FL has pitiful wages, so high taxes are a lot more of a burden here than they are where wages are better.... the economic advantage to FL is low taxes, not a high salary

I don't think FL will turn into CA, but parts of FL are getting alarmingly like NY and the northeastern "nanny state".....
So it is ok to lash out at the northerners but when I defend them it is not ok?

I myself, just one single family spend over 10,000 last year total in Florida alone for vacation, business and seeing family and friends. Yes, 10k I laid in the Florida's economy just from little ole me.

What the heck are they doing with all that money we spend down there?

And I know people who spent that in one week on vacation in Florida.

I know northerners, westerners, easterners, southerners all have attitudes. No one particular group is worse then the other.

But to blame Florida problems on northerners as stated above is flat out bull!

But it was great when Florida was booming wasnt it? The northerners/westerners etc money fueled that don't you know.

I've read alot of your posts and they ALL always are in an attempt to get reactions from someone and the sad thing is that you often seem to post without knowledge of whatever it is you're talking about.

Florida's legal CUBAN immigrants vote republican. Legal Mexicans in Texas vote republican. African-Americans ( for the most part ) vote democrat reguardless of living in Florida, North Carolina, California, or Utah. The same can be said for most ( not all ) minority voters.

Will Florida ever become a " high tax, nanny state " Yes and no. I believe it's in Florida's state constitution that there will never be a state income tax and I also believe there is a cap on how high the states sales tax can go.

Florida has some of the lowest taxes in the country when it comes to sales tax and the state income tax. Florida nails you with Property taxes though.

As for being a nanny state, Florida is already a nanny state. I still find it funny that they will suspend your drivers license if your car insurance lapses. 10 years ago in Tennessee you didn't even HAVE to have car insurance.

California has too many policies and laws in place and the thing that kills them the most financially is that they are lax in execution of inmates and that their 3 strike laws have put too many prisoners in their state prisons.

Current cost of living in my town Ohio compared to one of the towns I am looking at in Florida is costing me on average 20% more of my money!

20% cheaper for me to live in Florida.

And that is not counting the state and local taxes that I pay here that I wont have to pay in Florida on the same income.

Anyone who has ever run a business knows that cash flow and spending are important, if Florida needs to add a state tax of some sort it could only better things for you. Can you imagine all the millions they could collect?

Some people just are not happy any way you put it.

Let's hope it stays that way. If we start electing radical politicians coat tailing Obama's "change" mantra, hoping to swipe up Florida's blossoming ethnic immigrant vote, we will set ourselves up for failure like California, which is run exclusively by Democrat politicians.

"Say NO to Santa Clause Politicians" !!!

I agree. So im going to tell it like it is. The south despises northerners cause they lack manners, respect, self control, dissapline, and the knowledge of real love. They are rude, mocking, hatefull, and disgusting. Thats what southerners think of the north.

And I'd like to apologize for that. The rest of them give the 1% like me a bad name.

You should see what the Massachusetts immigrants are doing to New Hampshire.

PILMAN is on a distinguished road
Unfortunately I'm guilty of being one of those "northerners" from Chicago that relocated to Florida. I don't like to refer to myself as a northerner because I never wanted to live in Chicago or Illinois from the beginning, I always hated the high taxes, I hated the crooked politicians, I hated both political parties (I am a strict constitutionalist) and everything about Chicago just disgusted me.

My aunt met her husband online who lived on the panhandle of Florida and relocated there. My family relocated here 7 years ago when my parents split up.

Some of the people here didn't like the fact I was a northerner and said I had a "nasal tone" accent, but now people say I sound like them and have assimilated well. I've even got a confederate flag hanging from my house.

When I first moved here, the area was pretty nice and wasn't like Southern Florida which just looks like Southern California in my opinion.

Northern Florida unfortunately is becoming more crowded and I'm starting to see an increase in immigration and it worries me that we could turn into a high tax nanny state soon, i'm sure there are some people who still wouldn't welcome me here but I consider Florida my home and would do anything to vote for those who oppose what one would call a "nanny state". I fear mass immigration here the most.
