Trader Joes is great. Their prices are reasonable and they offer a wide variety of food.

They are a great place to shop if you are having a party when it comes to having items that are tasty and appealing.

I miss Trader Joes.

Ok I live in Lakeland, where Publix is located at.

The stores are pretty clean and they serve nice deli and meat products. The Bakery is either a hit or miss sometimes.

The Winn Dixie's in Lakeland are not clean for the most part and the prices for alot of the products cost a tad more than Publix. For example a Hungry Man Frozen Dinner at Publix might cost you $3.00

The same product at Winn Dixie will cost you anywhere from 4-5 bucks.

The meat products at Winn Dixie however seem to be a tad cheaper.

There is also 2 soon to be 3 Super Walmarts in the area (North Lakeland, Mid-South Lakeland, and futher south towards Mulberry). Walmart is cheaper than Publix or Winn Dixie, however the area I live in I would rather just go to Publix. Walmart around here seems to be too packed to shop.

There is also a Sweetbay in North Lakeland which used to be Kash and Karry. Kash N Karry also used to be in South Lakeland a few years ago before they closed that store.

I love Publix, they may not be the cheapest but I have a nice new store like 2 minutes from my house and it's clean, has a good selection and they run specials like buy one get one free all the time.Almost every time I go and spend $30-$60 I end up saving $10-$20.What we'll do sometimes is shop once a week for steaks, fish and some other items at Sedano's which is a latin grocery store which I despise going there but their prices are better than Publix and then the rest of the week we'll go three times or so for other items to Publix.

Publix doesn't even try to please it's customers. I asked last week when they'd be getting wild salmon and all I got back was, "It's not here yet." It's here alright, I got it at Whole Foods in Palm Beach Gardens and just this Saturday we got wild fresh sockeye at Sam's Club here in Vero Beach but not my Publix!

Whole Foods is a nice place to shop, but it's too expensive to shop there on a regular basis, despite the fact that they have amazing produce. Publix does have a great bakery, but most of their stores are just aisles and aisles of processed food, with 100 different varieties of salad dressing, for example. I would rather have more choice of produce and more pre-frozen meats.

Any company that designs itself exclusively to spanish customers in some areas aka "Sabor" will not get my business, and they overprice the competitors products to their own by at least $1 per product. Publix, no thanks, I'm in America, not Manhattan and not in Puerto Rico which it seems I think you cater to.

I'm sure Publix won't miss your business. As a Spanish person myself, I LOVE the Spanish products. Actually Publix does a fantastic job of catering to whatever neighborhood they are in, and happen to stock products that their customers ask for. Not many other grocery stores are willing to do that for you.

I love cooking and finding interesting ethnic foods. Would love to see a more Latin Publix up here. In these parts, the small Asian markets (which do have some cool stuff in them) outnumber the Hispanic ones by about 3-1, and there are just so many cool Latin/South American/Caribbean dishes that require items that can be hard to find in many general US grocery stores.

You are right working grocery retail is a physically demanding job. It is sad to say but most people just want the paycheck forget about doing any work for it.
From my own experience working in the produce warehouse my freshman year of college, that is very demanding work and you earn every penny you get.

There's a huge Publix in Dadeland (South Miami), yet only 15% of the floorspace is used for deli/produce/meat. The rest is just aisles and aisles of chips, 100 varieties of salad dressing, although they do have a fairly decent wine selection.
