Yulee is VERY rural. Jacksonville is getting bad reputation for its violence, well, not just violence, murders really. Maybe you'd like to look for a place to live in Fernandina Beach.

Is Yulee on the coast or is it somewhat inland? I have heard of it but not sure. Sorry to get off topic. Back to OP's question about the good and the bad of Yulee...

Yulee is inland, but a quick drive to Fernandina Beach. Yulee is a nice country town. They even have a new(ish) Lowe's and Wal Mart and all of that stuff.

OP - You've never been to the area but are starting a business and moving there? What if you hate it? Depending on what part of California you are coming from it may be a huge culture shock.

Yeah, I knew I had heard good things about it. We need more Yulee's in FL! Good luck OP, it sounds like a nice place, and if too small for you, it sounds like Jax and Fernandina isnt too far.

Let me tell you, you will love it. I would do anything to be back in Yulee. Amelia Island is wonderful. You must see Huganot Park. Only thing you will regret is if you pass up the beauty of this area and the nice people in it. Do not consider Jacksonville unless you are a big fan of backed up traffic, crime and other problems associated with big towns. Amelia Island has grown since we left but when we have went back to visit and it is still just as wonderful and so are the hometown people. GOOD LUCK!

My family and I are looking to relo to a warmer climate than our current PA, where the crime is low, people friendly and generally thoughtful, even on the road (I know that's almost impossible to get). We hope to own and run a boardinghouse, preferably with a little land so we can have a small produce garden for our own use or even a small farm. We heard Yulee and Fleming Island are nice. Also we heard Orange Park is no longer nice. We will have to rent for a while while we search for our permanent home but I found no apartments in Fleming Island, only 3+ bedroom houses. Any info and advice is appreciated. We are a husband and wife and mother in law and we are all over 50, all partially disabled in some way (for example on of us has very limited standing and sitting time due to spine problem).

In summary....

Yulee is a tiny town, village really, in the country. Very rural. Cow-tipping and muddin' are Friday night entertainment.

Jacksonville is a big city and has most everything you'd expect from a big city.
