Default FL didnt perform well in top 100 places for businesses and careers

In another thread, a poster asked what FL can do to attract more businesses to FL, and what FL can do to create better paying jobs... so I thought I'd post this link that just came out. http://realestate.yahoo.com/promo/be...d-careers.html

Between the top 50 big metro areas, and the top 50 smaller metro areas throughout America, Florida only had one. Gainesville, at 50th. 10 of the top 20 were in either NC or CO.

FL needs to do something besides leaning on the tourists' shoulders for money! Top 25 of big metro areas and small metro areas below:

I agree! Florida needs to get more industry in here that is not tourist-dependent. Orlando seems to be 'trying' to do the medical-corridor thing, which would be good, but we need more than that. It would be nice if we could get businesses in optional energy sources here that would provide jobs and a better envioronment that is less oil dependent.

The only thing I've seen lately trying to come into our area is Niagara Bottling Co. which is causing a huge problem with residents, but will likely be approved. The Water Mgt. District will approve their drawing almost 500,000 gallons a day from the aquifer, but meanwhile are cutting our watering days to ONCE per week in the fall.

Doesn't say a lot for Florida's leadership in getting the right companies here.
