Nahhh... LOL! Eastern TN is the best! It's prettier (imo) and I like the fact that there are Gator fans, even in Knoxville!

That's pretty funny! But makes me wonder if people down there are stealing golf carts now? LOL!
He lives in a golf courses community and the kids love to mess with his carts.

No way was I posting they were stealing any carts, kids were just toying with him and he knows once an alarm goes off they will run like scared rabbits.

Nice try to make it out like only in Florida can golf carts be stolen!!

Did not work.

My point was the man was doing well enough to live in a beautiful town on a golf course and had multiple golf carts to get around in.

You gotta to be kidding me, I love Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg but outside of that is is like a total dump, Sweetwater to Cleveland Tn going south is full of horrible towns and dirty hotels. Going north we stayed a night in Lafollette and was going in late and ate at the Waffle House right off the exit and felt unsafe the entire time we were there. The hotel was nasty.

I can say we stayed in Crossville one time and like it well, but other then that, many towns E Tenn is falling apart and becoming utter slums.

Not sure about being the most populous state in the lower 48 states in the next 20 years, but I guess it's possible. What few long-timers and natives FL has left will probably move away if that happens though.
Its not? Care to back that up with some facts? Not longer a popular relocation state? Or are you confusing the retirees with relocation people?

The numbers are staggering of those who moved out of Florida and moved back or are planning on moving back.

Why on earth would long time citizens from the north ever move back to a cold weather state? Not going to happen. They left the cold to enjoy their life in the sunshine. You will also find that many snowbirds are not coming back for the winter much any more, they are staying in Florida longer and coming back for short visits and heading back to Florida.

Last time I checked Florida moved past NY as the 3rd most populated state and had two of the fastest growing counties in America.

As those natives and long timers move out it makes room for the explosion of people from the rust belt areas to the south.

Hey if you are going to struggle why not do it in Florida where the COL is less in most areas then towns in the rust belt even today?

COL comparison of my current town to the town at the top of my list would save me more then 20% of my money.

Perhaps even more important, the great housing advantage seems certain to weaken as a net positive. As prices in Florida, Arizona and even California begin to decline, Rust Belt residents who've been thinking of moving to warm weather, more dynamic economies and lively entrepreneurial environments will now have their chance.

The lower the home prices go in Florida ( and come back to real values ) you will see more people from the rust belt taking advantage of that.

Everyone is different. Some people like the cold, or at least they like the temperate seasonal shifts and feel they can endure the cold in exchange for that. Florida can take some getting used to, and some people never do. Some people are homesick for up north and they will and do move back.

As of July 2008, NY still had more people than Florida. It still has more House and Senate seats too.

Hopefully I can find the magazine that shows Florida moved past NY into No. 3 so I can post it for you.

Do you listen to the news? This current controlling congress is scrambling to get that all changed before the 2010 census, they know the population shift is there ( Shifting to the SE ) and want to take advantage of it while they still have control.

Does NY even have a single county in the top 100 fastest growing counties in the US?

in just a couple of MONTHS since those House and Senate seats haven't changed since the election. Gained over a million people in 3 or 4 months? I don't think so.

Have you ever heard of someone putting an alarm on a golf cart? I havent, what else were people supposed to think? I do know that I have heard a couple of incidents in FL where the driver of the golf cart tried to intentionally run someone over because someone walked in front of them on accident. I think it was in Palm Coast. Stories like that, and ones that go on in FL especially, have me thinking this way at times. Not a knock, you just get kind of used to it, lol.
