Fed induced recession? Ok, I got it, Meaning Frank and Dodd or the 232k Emanuel got paid from Fannie Mae. Or the 325k Obama got from AIG even though they were failing. Maybe he should give that money back like he wants all those execs but you dont see anyone talking about that do you.
I am following you on this, economy was rolling along perfectly until 2006 when we got stupid. Now we even got more stupid in Nov. 2008.
You are right, this current government wants to control us in every way and steer us towards socialist country and have self induced this economy to gain control of people. People are weak when they are down and this group knows that.

You do not understand the economy or economics, confirmed.

Other states have things to lean on.
Florida will be dependent on people coming down to go to the beach, Disney, and the other parks.
I wonder if that will happen.

NE is a powerhouse? What?
I never heard that one before.
Dot coms would have been there long ago if that were true. Charlotte had a huge bounce a few years back and now its Atlanta. Neither in the NE.
Chicago, makes me laugh. With the crime and corruption they have no company will be moving to Chicago.
I see Atlanta and Jacksonville as the new hubs for growth. I cannot think of any town in the NE that has grown or is going to grow in the future.
The NE is known for high taxes and no company who wants to make money will be going there.
My dads company he worked for had a corporate office in NY.
NY taxed them right out of the state, they are now in Atlanta. Many other companies followed and left.
Saturn build plants in what state? Tenn and Ky. Not the NE.
The new Solar plant that everyone is buzzing about is being built where?
Tennessee!
Never said the NE will ever die, but if you look at the population shift to the SE and SW it will take along with it any power it used to have.

Ryan, I know that and everyone who depends on tourist is suffering.
Myrtle Beach is one of the most visited towns on the east coast and they are seeing the economy hurting but they are still building huge oceanfront hotels and condos.

Here is the latest unemployment rates by state.
Unemployment Rates for States
Florida is at 9.4%, the same as Ohio. New York is "struggling" at 7.8%. That family of the boy I worked left Florida after 4 months because they couldn't find jobs. No wonder they moved to North Dakota with 4.3% unemployment. Yeah, all states are struggling equally to Florida. Hmm.

Let me just give you a quick example. My tiny state of New Jersey has 40 Fortune 500 companies while Florida has 34. My neighboring States of Pennsylvania have 50 and New York has 94.

I used to work for a Fortune 500 pharmeceutical corporation in Manhattan. It was started in the 1890's by two brothers in NY. Their corporate headquarters are still in NY. Their plant is in NJ. I am sure you know of all the pharmeceutial plants in NJ.
Anyway, they at one time considered moving to the Carolinas. They put out "feelers" in NC. They also sent out a survey to all current staff, at all levels, how they felt about moving. From upper management to clerks to factory workers there were very few who wanted to relocate. So what would they do? Fire hundreds and hundreds of employees and start from scratch in a new state? Would they find a that varied a talent pool in a small geographic area of NC? This typifies what would happen with a Fortune 500 company moving to Florida, too.
You have to consider the population who live in the NYC Tri State; billions of people. It isn't just about high costs of doing business. They have to be located in a well populated area so they can have a large enough talent pool to draw for employees.
This is why you won't find these large corporations moving from the NE. The majority of employees, particularly those with young familes, simply don't want to uproot their kids and move thousands of miles away; this forum notwithstanding.

South Carolina and Florida are different.
South Carolina as a whole has always been known for poverty. No one expects them to come flying out of the recession.

I don't think that's 100% right. I think most people would jump at the chance to make their current Fortune 500 salary in Florida if they were offered a move from NY or NJ to Florida.
The only problem is.. A company would only relocate to Florida so that they COULD fire everyone and replace them all with $8/hr workers that don't demand anything like benefits or fulltime hours. That's how companies in Florida make money.
