Default Can I buy a Condo On the Beach for 100 Grand?

Just spoke to a realtor and he told me that there are lot of condos for sale in Florida.

Have prices fallen so much that you can actually buy a a condo on the beach in Florida.

He must be talking about some bad areas - right?

I don't know where in Florida, but it might be possible. In my area beach front condos are still asking over $300k, but you can find condos under $100k within walking distance to the beach.

Just remember, the HOA fees are enormous for condos on the ocean and gulf due to the very high insurance premiums. So while you might get a condo for $100K, you could end up paying $500-700/mo in dues! Also keep in mind that if there are a high number of foreclosures in the building, dues will rise to cover the shortages.

A relative is selling hers, located in Cape Canaveral, for $120. It's across the street from the beach without other condos blocking the view. If we had the funds, we'd buy it for a vacation home for our kids. Though, I will say, the HOA fees are in the area of $500/mnth. Not sure about HOI.

We found about a dozen over in Panama City Beach with a price range of $79,000 - $100,000. Many of them are fairly small, with about 300-500 square feet.
