Default Teaching positions in Florida?

I am a senior about to graduate this May from Arizona State University. This means that I am in need of a job and Arizona is unable to offer me a position due to the thousands of teachers they have already laid off. Are there any districts in Florida hiring, and if so are they decent areas?

What area are you thinking?

Almost every county is either in a freeze or laying off teachers. Not a good time for most looking for teaching jobs anywhere.

Texas is hiring teachers, many of the ones being laid off in FL are thinking about heading there.

Florida is not the place to come for any job unless possibly in the medical industry. Most teachers are heading to Georgia or Texas since the pay is much better and the cost of living is much lower. Florida teachers make peanuts and most younger ones have to have roommates to pay the rent. And now all the layoffs.............

Hi. You should check out this website for teachers all across the USA:

Teachers.Net - TEACHERS - Teacher chat, lesson plans, teaching jobs. Teachers.Net for the most active teacher chatboards & teacher chatrooms, featuring thousands of teaching jobs, over 150 teacher mailrings and over 150 teacher chatboards, and live t

Also, my husband is a teacher here in Georgia and our district just cut 100 teachers. Things are bad here too.

The governor and legislature are forcing cutbacks of essential teaching positions in all the counties, so FL is the last place you should be looking. FL does not value their children nor their teachers.

I also am looking into teaching positions in the Miami-Dade County Schools or in Monroe County. Any thoughts? I am a bilingual/ESL teacher with 1-8 certification

I teach for Monroe County and we are in a hiring freeze. I don't know about Miami, but it is a much larger district.

None in the Gainesville area...there was one school needing to hire a teacher assistant (not even a real teacher, mind you), and they received a couple of hundred applications. They ended up hiring a former teacher from NC. Way to keep it in-state.
