Default Floridians Favorite Vacation place

With the summer months around the corner most of us will take a vacation and we either explore Florida or go some place else. Give us your views on the location(s). Someone might benefit from your feedback.....

Every August I take 3 weeks vacation and head to the mountains to escape the opressive heat-backpacking at Mt. Rainier, Canadian Rockies, Vancouver Island, Alaska. . anyplace except Fl.

I'm going to take a week in the next couple of months and I want to do some Florida scouting of areas I have not been to.

I wouldn't want to go to Europe in the summer months. Too crowded by tourists and probably more expensive.

We usually take another week on a cruise or to one of those "all inclusive" resorts in the Caribbean.

I'd like to go to Alaska but need mega $$$$ and time as I would also like to take advantage of the cross country journey and visit Washington and Victoria.

I also end up taking a week at some point to do house projects.

One day I'd like to go Russia, China, India, Australia and the scandinavian countries, oh and Argentina.

The pacific northwest particularly the Seattle area is very nice in the summer.
Expensive place though. If I could afford it, I would probably own a place there and spend at least half the summer and escape the Florida heat.

  • Geneva On The Lake Ohio
  • Watkins Glen NY (Some of the most BEAUTIFUL Countryside, outside of Germany)
  • Helen GA (Reminds us of Germany)
  • Pensacola Beach!

We like to go Antique shopping, so Watkins Glen and Geneva are top on the list for that!

GOOD for YOU!

It is a vacation, not a lengthy retreat... So we never spend more than a few days there... But, We LOVE it!! Watkins Glen Falls, Montour Falls, Stunning tree covered Mountain ranges, Sparkling Lakes (not Ponds that are called Lakes), Wineries, Farms and Antique Shops... Oh, and if you like races, the Grand Prix (Diagonal from the Pig Farm "yuck") is right there too. Oh, we can not forget the Old Mr. Chicken down by the State Park has the BEST Tater Salad and Fried Chicken! Mmmmm

The Worst place has got to be Detroit

I voted for Get Away From Florida....but I need to explain my reasons. We spend several weekends from the fall through the spring exploring Florida since we are centrally located we can drive to most parts of the state on a weekend.
In the summers, we like to take 2-3 weeks at a time and travel to another state/country and immerse ourself in it's history, geography and people. Our last trip was to Colorado - we covered almost the entire state from Denver west to Grand Junction, including the San Juans, the Presidentials and Rocky Mountain National Park....what an awesome trip! Probably will not go on a trip this summer as my dad is having surgery and I need to help my Mom out, but am excitedly planning the one for next year!
