We are relocating to Tampa this summer as well. I have been researching for awhile. My husband will be working in the Trinity area. This area is really nice. It has been highly recommended. We were hoping to have homes with larger lots and maybe a little less money.

Land O' Lakes has also come highly recommended. Lots still a little small but with green belts, etc. may give a roomier feel.

Spring Hill, Brooksville, and Homosassa (Sugarmill Woods) have a lot of new homes with great prices and larger lots. Sterling Hills in Spring Hill seems like a nice, gated community. You could also try the Spring Ridge and Trillium neighborhoods. Sugarmills also seems very nice, although it is a bit of a ommute.

I have also been looking at the Hudson area. It seems to be a nice area.

Trinity is very nice! But if you want a more wooded lot for less money, I agree with the previous poster - you might try Land o Lakes - Grand Oaks is nice.

How harsh is the hurricane season on places like Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes?

We survived 8 hurricanes over the past 2 summers without even losing our power. The biggest thing that happened was a palm frond landing on the ground and a small newly-planted plant blew over. Newer homes (less than 5 years) have the strictest code. I wouldn't worry about hurricanes in the Wesley Chapel/Land O Lakes area. This where people on the beaches flee TO.

If you're thinking about the Trinity area - I'd just be mindful of your boundaries. For those in Pinellas County, east of 19 is good and for those in Pasco, east of Little Road. Those seem to be 2 boundaries for flood zones. There are exceptions. Just ask about the area you're interested in.
