if your not from North Florida and don't fit the typical Americanized Caucasian or African American cookie cutter mold for the south then you may feel out of place. Those two aforementioned groups are the majority and everyone else struggles to find those like them and form cliques. If you are the type of person that can find a common interest within anybody you will be ok. Me I find it hard to get along certain people for my stubborn reasons.

because there are a lot of ignorant uneducated people down here that give North Florida a bad name. There will always be bad apples everywhere though but to me its hard to find good apples.

How about the folks that have moved to S FL? Is that more your style? The NY/NJ/Latin American-filled areas of S FL perhaps is what you are looking for?

The only cross burning and KKK events that I've seen were in Illinois...not southern Illinois either.

Exactly. Northerners had slaves too. Yes, there are more rednecks and racists in the South (probably), but it's not like the North was innocent back in those times.
