what is a decent not to expensive place to live in Florida?
Me and my fiance plan on moving to Florida sometime within the next year, and we are not to sure where to move exactly. I plan on going to school there for marine biology, and I want to move somewhere kind of close to the water but not to close to where the hurricanes can affect me really, like tear down my home. I want to live in a good area, not some where the crime rate is really high. Also, some place to to expensive since I will be in college. Any recommendations?

Tampa Bay. We rarely get hit with any hurricanes (it's been years since anything ripped through here and about 4 yrs. since the cat. 1's came by), it's pretty inexpensive, there's Tampa University-USF-and Hillsborough Community College here-as well as many other colleges, it's close to beaches, but not right on top of them, everything you need is here, and it's a pretty decent place to raise a family (more so in the surrounding communities like Brandon/Riverview/Valrico, New Tampa, Tampa Palms, ect).

Hi, I'm Mike from Hernando County and I won't throw a sales pitch at you since it is against the TOS but I will say that you may get some better suggestions if you can tell us where you will be going to school.
If you don't have the school picked yet there are Colleges and Universities all over Fl that have Marine Bio.
Tampa and Pensacola areas would probably fit the bill for you. Both have good Univ. with Marine Bio programs and close to gulf beaches.
Tampa I think has a lower incidence of hurricanes than Pensacola though it only takes one.

LMAO! I was thinking the same thing-that person was throwing the OP a sales pitch. I mean, come on! What's in Citrus Co.?! lol. I agree with you, Tampa is a good choice, plus there are many colleges and universities in the area to attend plus lower housing.
