Why every thread in the Florida forum turns sour?
I would like to understand why every thread that is started in the Florida Forum gets sour and negative.
I does not matter the subject, past the first page, there is always people with negative and sour comments, why is that? even simple threads like where in Florida should I live or something? there is always people with negative remarks, either bashing Florida or Floridians telling you to do your research better... why is people so mad in the beautiful state of Florida? perhaps too much sun? and watch how this thread will get negative in a heartbeat!

LMAO-you make me laugh...
I couldn't tell you why it goes sour, but all I have to say is that I am a happy person until someone makes a rude comment...

It's probally because Florida is a big melting pot of the U.S., Latin America and Caribbean. Florida population in 1990 was 5000,000. Now it's estimated 13 million. That means everybody who lives have not been here for generations like most families do elsewhere. They all have their own opinions from their cultures that have been embeded in their heads. Unfortunetely when they come here they come and bring their problems with them. Even worst they come here with the idea in their head that their gonna hate Florida. They would be miserable anywhere with that type of mindset. Another I always find is people from other parts of the country come to Florida forums to put their two cents in something they don't know about. Not to say native Floridians are not a part of the problem of forums turning sour. To many opinions in one state create this problem. But then again that's just my take on it.

goofykid not to rag on your facts but the State of Florida has roughly 19 million people in it now not 13million. I do agree it is a very diverse state leading to diverse opinions.

Speaking as a Florida Native (though now elsewhere):
1) Every group that hates each other is down there in their own little enclaves, often as not
2) Cost of housing is high relative to salaries, because "it's the sun belt". So lots of folks find they can't afford that house near the beach they've had their eye on since they were kids. Some out of town, snowbird money or some such has driven the prices out of reach.
3) Thus the folks in (2) often end up having to live closer to the folks in (1) than they want.
4) Over time many areas have "gone bad". Consider that Lake Worth, West Palm Beach, Riviera Beach and Singer Island were all, at one time relatively decent places to live. I know of some folks that ran as far off as Sebastian from Lake Worth, referring to all areas south of roughly PGA Blvd as "The Jungle". (These are spots in Palm Beach County.)
5) Over the various recessions etc. the class gap has widened, major employers left, making problem (2) all the more obvious. The feeling is much like chasing a carrot that continues to get further and further away. Yet you can see Greg freakin' Norman and Donald Trump's Mega Yachts right down a the waterfront. Hard not to feel like you "missed the boat" (LOL!) or just got totally screwed by the folks that actually live in places like Jupiter Island, Palm Beach Island, Jupiter-Tequesta, Boca Raton, etc.
In short, you are probably hearing the complaints of people that are tired of chasing the beach front with no way to get there in sight, while at the same time being trapped in or close to the places that are going down hill with drive by's, Hatian refuges, etc.
For a long time S. Fla, at least has slowly been becoming, "The rich" and "The people who service them".
Or to really sum it up, people want that fancy life they see on the Barrier Islands, but are stuck with ghetto.
I.e. Class and money gripes.

Ah well, you've seen the bumper sticker...
"Would the last American to Leave Miami Turn out the Lights and Bring the Flag?"
Even visitors notice it. Overheard two guys that were traveling sales types in Denver talking about it at work one day. One says to the other, "Geezus, might just as well cut S. Fla. off and let it drift away."
There was a time when Miami was actually nice.
By feeling guilty that "America is a nation of immigrants" and not slamming the door, we've succeeded all the nicest sun belt areas to decay and decline outside the gates of the mega wealth communities. And what good is that even? As soon as you go out past the gates you're in the hood? A gilded cage is a cage none-the-less.
