I am relocating to Florida (Ft. Lauderdale/West Palm Beach area) and am trying to find the cost of daycare for a 2 & 4 year old. I would appreciate any information you can offer.

Please give this some thought. If you can please stay at home with them until they start school. Nothing is more important than a Mother to a young child. And the time that you spend with them will forever be with you. Good luck.

I couldn't agree more. You are so right!

If you already have employment planned, I would ask the employer if they had any recommendations. You could also look up the "La Petite" centers in that area. They can be pretty expensive but can be used as a guide. Take about $200-$400 off their tuition.

Most community info centers have this information as well. All around, daycare is expensive.

Good luck to you and your little ones

Unfortunately I don't have a choice in the matter. Since I am a single parent my income is all that I have. So any information would be appreciated.

I can understand where you are coming from. But have you thought about maybe working from home? That way you can have flexible hours and be with your kids. I'm not talking about some scam ad online where they say you'll earn $100k a year by signing up with them. I'm talking about a real career from home. Go to your local library and get the book The Stay at Home Mom's Guide to Making Money from Home by Liz Folger. She also has a website www.bizymoms.com. It's a good book that may help you.

I work from home part time and make a full time income so I know it can be done depending on the skills you have (and determination). Good luck, adequate day care is not only costly but it's hard to find. It will probably cost around $300 per week to have the kids in day care. Think about much are you really earning after that per week. Maybe you can earn less by staying home, not paying day care and taking care of the kids yourself.

Of course you have a choice. Just make sure you leave all the options open moving forward. Keep looking for daycare but still take into consideration what RedWingsFan stated in his post. I'm a single mom of 4, homeschool 1 and make a full time income from home. I fired my boss 2 years ago and never looked back.

Just keep all the options open

Good luck to you.

kmcdoug wants some information, not an opinion of weather you feel it's right for her/him to work as a single parent. How about just keeping to the thought of the thread, and not voicing your opinions?

This forum is full of opinions...if you actually read my response you would have noticed that I answered the poster's original question.

Where's your answer? ... None... Just another opinion!

I95: My opinion (statement) was not directed at your response. You did offer a possible solution. In a perfect world, childcare should be provided by family. However, we all know this is not a perfect world. Life happens, and all of us have to support ourselves in some manner. I did not offer an answer, because yours was perfect.
