I bought a mh and it was recommended to me to get AARP and use Foremost Insurance. The seller has the same insurance. They first tell me I need a hurricane inspection and just a licensed inspector, letter head, and report. I send it to them, then they want more pictures, so seller has to take more picutres and email them. I wait a month and they never call me, so I call them and they say they never got the inspection report. So I fax another one. Wait a while and never hear from them. So I call them and they say they never recieved the documentation. After a lengthy call I finally realize they want additional information about the tie downs, ie. two code numbers. I finally ask why didn't you tell me this a month ago. I also remind them they insure the home now.

It has 6 tie downs on two sides.

I think I am getting the run around, any other companies out there for home owners insurance? FYI it's a 1974 double wide, completely redone inside. New drywall, kitchen, bathrooms, and windows. Metal roof on my own land.

Thanks

A 1974 home will not meet current state of Florida code,I am sure this is what insurer is looking at.Because previous owner was insured does not mean home will be accepted,my county will not allow a 74 to be brought in,does not meet wind code.My 98 was accepted with no question.Foremost will only insure away from coast.

I'm not sure about Foremost, but my daughter in Orlando had to get Citizens for her MH. Funny thing was that in '04, houses all around her were severely damaged and their double wide mobile had $0 damage. The privacy (wood) fence fell down and they lost power for 9 days just like everyone else in the area.
