Yes, I remember the beaches in Florida, and they are definitely wonderful.

I lived in TX for 7 years between '93 and '00 because of my job. After taking early retirement, I left Texas because of the heat, humidity, and high property taxes, but I lived inland in the Austin area where you don't get sea breezes. Friends took me to Padre Island Easter of '99. The weather was overcast that day, and the waves were too wild to swim in, but I could see why that area on the Gulf is so popular. My friends were from Brownsville originally, and they'd vacation at Padre just like my family did at the Jersey shore each summer. We went across the border for dinner, and it was just great. We feasted and were treated like royalty.

As for Texas in general, everybody told me they'd never accept me down there cause I'm a yankee, but that was not the case at all. I loved the people, and the state, for the most part, is very upbeat and fun. I made some good friends there who are native Texans.

Well, go research it -- it may be where you really belong.
