We experimented with Savannah, GA, to the north for 8 months. But even though the trees were nice there, we could not pry ourselves away from the west coast trees and forests. And I'll take the rain here any day over the warm humidity and insects.
Seems that I get out in the forest at least every few weeks on average.
I like the forests of Oregon, CA, or WA. Noth Idaho is okay, but the coastal areas are my favorites.
Have to admit though, I'd like to visit the SE coast again. One part of Tennessee caught my eye too.

When I get these same thoughts, dreams of living where there are trees, I know in my heart that one day I'd be looking out the window at the spindly, stark and birdless winter scene and I'd miss what I have now, a magnificent view from three sets of sliders of queen & phoenix palms, coconuts, chinese palms, hibiscus, myrtles, mingled with live oaks and I'd want to come right back here. Grass is always greener or should I say the oaks are always greener...

Part of the reason I couldn't wait to get back to Southern Florida after grad school in North Florida was because I hated brown grass and dead trees in April!!!

Most people in Florida are looking for palm trees and maybe fruit trees. That's what tropical climates are all about.
I don't think it's the same to have oaks, maples, evergreens, pines, birch, and other more northern trees in a state with no topography like Florida. Trees like that need rolling hills and mountains and some cold weather to go with them for the authentic New England foliage type feel. I still love all these different types of trees though.

So, you are telling us that I am correct that Tanaples and Hockeymom72 are one in the same?
Thanks for clearing that up.

There are probably a lot of the same people in here. This is the internet after all plus in Florida to boot. Gawd.
