I don't think so, wasn't hockeymom72 moving back to Colorado and TAnaples is from the Northeast? I think they are two different people.

Nope, they are one in the same.
Hockeymom72 was from NY and living in Naples and Tanaples was from NY and living in Naples. Both having daughters from NY named Rachael.
Who by the way just confirmed they are one in the same.
Also, tanaples posted that she changed her name from HM to Tan only to forget she was banned as HM.
Not that big of a deal other then the negative "I hate Florida" postings that has stopped and effected so many people from moving to Florida. And that is wrong.
Sure people want to know the negatives and positives but come on some of these bashers are the problems and the problems are not the people of Florida or the state of Florida.
You do to not realize how many people decided not to move to Florida after reading all this rubbish.

Most people living in Florida will not understand, but some us do. I have only lived here 2 years. I cannot imagine 20 years. I would be living in an asylum after all that time.

This is great. I'm right there with you. We are moving back north in a couple weeks. ThinkingTrees is not crazy and neither are you TANaples.
FL is lovely, but there is something about crisp air, spring breezes, cut northern grass smells, canopied trees, the smell in fall, and the very chilly air in the middle of winter that is good for the soul!

I grew up with concrete all around me. If I wanted to see a tree, I had to go to a park. Years later NYC decided to go green with gentrification and planted trees down the sidewalks. That was nice. Last time I visited my old neighbordhood I was amazed at how huge and full those trees had gotten in 30 years.
Anyway, trees are a big deal to me because of my childhood.

This post goes from the sublime to the absurd ... you are free to leave Florida whenever you like , please the faster the better . City Data Forum is all about silly posts and no data whatsoever !!

What's wrong with you?? You've been unhappy for more than 2 decades and have done nothing about it (or so you say). It generally takes someone like yourself at least 40 years to find out that I-95 runs north and there's no one to stop you from leaving. When you find those hillsides and winding roads please write back with your complaints about the economy and country people.

Kudos to you and excellent reply ... I have to agree with you totally .. this forum is being hijacked by people with serious existential issues . I personally cannot stand folks who complain all day about hating Florida and do nothing about it .... leave already !!

What is wrong with trees? Although I prefer the northern oaks, etc., which turn beautiful colors in the Fall, there are still native trees to Florida which are not PALM TREES. I have one in my back yard. It is about 15 feet high. I would NEVER tear it down to put up a palm tree. It is natural to Florida. All the birds go in this tree, chirp, nest. They don't do that in the palm trees.
I like NATURE. Sue me for that.

Jacksonville has tons of mature tree lined streets and not a single palm in sight. I'm moving there and been looking and all the neighborhoods surrounding downtown suburbs resemble what I'm used to in Pa.

I agree with the above, if you do not like it in Florida or failed in Florida then leave!!!
Makes room for others who do and will enjoy it and who can make it in Florida with no problems.
We went to a local lake today to have a picnic for the first time in months just to get out of the house after being stuck inside for the last 8 months, the sun was shining and it was nice, then came the gray skies and chilly breeze to ruin it for all of us. We ate, packed up and headed for home.
We cannot swim in our pool yet, it is ready but of course to darn cold to enjoy.
Oh yea were were surrounded by trees and dirty water so that makes it so much more fun ????
OMG is trees are that important to you then you really have some internal issues that only medicine can maybe fix.
I think I will start a thread - Dreams of living where there is a real life - That would be in Fla baby!

Jacksonville is becoming a concrete jungle like everywhere else. The concrete helps deflect the bullets from drive-bys which can be a lifesaver though. You are probably better off in Vero Beach and points south. Jacksonville is not what the chamber of commerce people on the Jacksonville forum say it is.
