Favorite Florida City
OK, we talk frequently about cities in Florida that we DON'T like....well...which one is your absolute favorite? I'm sure we all have one.
Mine is probably Tallahassee - it's different from the rest of the state, more like a Georgia/SC/Alabama-feeling city than Florida, things just seem more laid back and I like the Southern culture I found (it's been quite a few years since I've been there, so things may have changed).
If your city isn't lited, just vote for the closest one and tell us about it.

I like Tallahassee a lot, a very nice city. But my very favorite is not listed: Mexico Beach, on the Gulf Coast east of Panama City, west of Port St. Joe. Reminds me of what Destin was like 20 years ago, though it's growing now, getting expensive, and will probably be totally spoiled in another decade or less.
Since employment and schools are not an issue for me, small places like this are just what suits me. The water is gorgeous, the beaches are uncrowded, the pace is slow...

As much as I complain about it, the only place I belong in FL is the southern region.

I haven't been to several of the cities listed, but I really like Orlando. There is so much to do there and it's very beautiful with all the palms and water fountains. Everything is always kept so neat. But in reality, I'm not sure if we'd ever live in a city that size. My favorite Fla. town has to be Lake Placid. It is so cute and I love all their murals on their buildings and the friendly people there. Now I feel like one of the three bears cause actually Lake Placid is just a bit too small.

Tampa has lots to do and I love it here!! Let me tell you about a place I hate most. I'm from the Keys and I hate it here because it's very, very, very expensive to live here. Gas-$2.87 Insurance-$7,100 Rent-$1014 Mortgage-$2405 Median house price-$350,000 for a 2 bedroom, 1 bath, 740 sq. ft. house, old run-down trailer! The Keys are also very run down and old looking, especially in Key West, there are bums everywhere and the sidewalks have some kind black smear all over, there are adult superstores everywhere, bars, Spring Breakers overdrink themseleves and act very stupid.

Key West about 25 years ago when the Navy still had a lot going on there and the cruise ships didn't spit out their black sock and man-sandle clad tourists onto the sidewalks. Before a 3 bed 2 bath cost 1.5 mil. and the beach wasn't toxic with human waste.
It was great to sit at Mallory square and watch the sunset beyond a not yet developed island.
And how super a life to pay 5 dollars for a drink. ahh the good old days.
