Default Young Married Couple from Chicago Interested in Navarre. Please Help!

My job with be relocating me (29) and my wife (28) to the panhandle area. We are looking for an area were we can find a newer housing development where we will have an opportunity to meet couples our age. We've heard great things about Navarre. Does anyone know anything about a new development in Navarre called Treasure Isle?

I will be an outside sales rep covering hospitals between Pensacola and Panama City. We can live anywhere from Pensacola to Panama City. We are looking for an area outside of the flood zones with lower HOI costs but within a 10 mile drive to the beach.

We will most likely only be in this area for 3 years so we are concerned with buying a house and having it decrease significantly in value. We want to buy in a newer neighborhood but don't have to worry about competing against unsold homes when we go to sell.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

Congratulations, the Navarre area will work well based on the locations that you must travel. The area is growing, housing is available for purchasing and rent. The HOI is less expensive north of HWY 98. If your employer will assume your home loan at the time of your relocation, purchase a home. Due to the large # of military members the housing sell well most of the time during rotation season (summer months and winter).

Check the Navarre Chamber of Commerce web-site, does offer info on the area and the other sites listed below. We have posted a bunch of info, so do a search for Navarre.

This are has alot of housing and in 3 years you probaly will not have much trouble selling the house. Panama City to Pensacola is under goign alot of development, so there are developments popping up all over the place.

Hi all.... I grew up in Milton and then later lived in Navarre. So if you want to live close to the beach, the nods goes to Navarre. Laughs... yes there are people in Milton/Pace, but you're going to have to go to the 'big city' of Pensacola for the mall and such.

Schools are great in Pace, Milton, Navarre... all the same county, really makes no difference. You're about the same distance wise from Pensacola.

You can get to the beach quicker than you use to from the Milton/Pace area by using the Garcon Point Bridge, but you'll pay a toll fee. Laughs, basically look at an updated map to see what I'm talking about.

We lived in Holley by the Sea in Navarre. I think my biggest complaints about the neighborhood was that it had a lot of roads that should have been paved, no curbs and no sidewalks. Our cars also got broken into A LOT! Who knows why that was.

The real estate market was a bit weird there... we had to sell our house for less than we paid for it because people could get a new home for the same price.. that was back in 1998. The day we sold our house we also purchased the empty lot next door for $9500, because we thought we would be coming back to the area and retiring. That didn't pan out, so we sold it a couple of years ago for $50,000. I so wish I could go back in time and buy dozen of lots in Holley by the Sea! Now I hear the home prices have skyrocketd, but I bet that's flattened out a bit since the bubble has burst.
