In this morning's Panama City Herald, the story is that the wildlife park is now on hold, and if it ever happens, it might well be another county. Apparently, negotiations with investors broke down.

I was skeptical when they announced it last summer, when I was working in the area. How do you spell Boondoggle?

Realtors have been floating the story for several years although I suspect there is some truth to it but that doesn't mean it will happen. Jim Flower was on Larry King last night and made some mention of wild life parks they were developing. That is not to say one will be there even though they may have been looking. I wonder if any property has even been purchased since they are now talking dates? I just read the story in the Panama City Herald and it sounds like it is all but off as of yesterday.

I was reading the paper that serves south Walton County over the summer and from what I could tell, the developer was not associated with any of the traditional "big players" in the area, as far as planning, development, and engineering are concerned. It had all the hallmarks of a scheme geared towards high profit and low quality. Fowler was probably just a figurehead in the deal in order to get underwriting.

As far as who actually owned the various parcels of land they were putting together, I can't remember exactly, but did see it mentioned somewhere. You can probably unearth the details pretty quickly if you are really that interested.
