Wife and I will be visiting South FL in late September. After a short Bahama cruise we'll be returning to Miami and renting a car-sightseeing for a few days before flying home to Northern CA. One thing we'd like to do while in the area is to view the everglades in an airboat. (We missed a similar opportunity while in Louisiana a few years earlier.)

So, I'm looking for the locals' input here. Which operators offer the best value and adventure and where exactly are they located? Any other recommendations that are must-do's or must-see's in South FL would be appreciated too. Right now we've got no firm plans beyond the cruise other than a road trip down thru the Keys.

Thanks in advance for your input.

There are a couple of guys out by Everglades City I like but that might be a little far for you.
I forget the name but as you pull into town stay straight and you will see a restaurant in front of you. I think the restaurant is The Oyster House. As you face the restaurant there is a gift shop on the left just a little before the restaurant, they book the rides from in there.

My wife and I did this when we were on our honeymoon. It was awesome - one of the best memories from our trip. Too bad I can't remember the name of the place we went... it was a reptile zoo (lots of gators, etc.) and had airboat tours, too. Google-ing it, it may have been the Everglades Alligator Farm but I'm not sure... it looks familiar.
