I well remember Morrison's and eating there on a few occasions. Good food reasonable without the waste of buffets.

we had a morrison's in valdosta. we ate there every sunday when i was a kid. it was changed over to a picadilly's and then closed shortly thereafter.

it was one of the original tenants of the mall here that was built in the mid '80's. i was a little sad to see it go, just because of all the memories i had there with my family as a kid.

I have a Morrisons Buffet here in Brooksville FL. I know I've seen another Morrisons in Pasco somewhere too.

All of them did that unfortunately.

They could be different. All of the Morrison's Cafeteria that we are talking about are closed.

Oh, I remember. I go all the way back to the 1950's. Then, we were poor but didnt know it and did our school clothes shopping in Lakeland. I remember my mother taking me to Morrison Cafeteria and I was so impressed with the elegant(to my mind) waiters. I can bring the memory up quite clearly and until a few years ago, could probably have told you what I had to eat....LOL.

Sadly, the one in Lakeland and the old mall in Winter Haven are long gone. The one in Winter Haven stayed open for a pretty long time and then became Picadilly and closed shortly thereafter.

The one in Vero Beach was quite good. It closed in the late 80's, I think, along with the old Clock Restaurant.

My favorite was the shrimp and mayonaise salad and I loved their iced tea. Oh my, how this brings back memories, good ones.

I loved Morrison's too especially the custard pie, well really all the desserts. The one in Tampa stayed open a lot longer than others but eventually closed.

Yeah, unfortnualetly they are closed down. The only family restaurants that I am aware of that still exist would be Ruby Tuesday and Silver Spoons, L&N Seafood Grill, Mozzarella's, and Tia's Tex-Mex. I know we have Ruby Tuesday's all over, and there is a Tia's Tex-Mex in the Tyrone Square Mall in St. Pete, however, I don't believe we have Silver Spoons, L&N Seafood Grill, or Mozzarella's here in Florida.

I griped about how much I disliked having to go to Morrison's with my family as a kid but I do have to admit they had some really good desserts. I have never been a fan of chocolate so I liked that they had several different choices of cakes and pies.

There was a Morrisson's Cafeteria in Downtown Orlando, just like the first poster at the top of this page said. It was located on a side street that intersected Orange Avenue. The waiters in white serving jackets carried the trays to the tables. I remember we put a dime on each tray. This was in the early 1960s. Later the Morrisson's moved from downtown to two separate locations: one on East Colonial, and another in the Winter Park Mall parking area, the northwestern square (I believe).
