We lived 30 miles from Orlando when I was growing up and had to go to Orlando to shop. Whenever we would go, we would go to Morrison's. I always go the fried shrimp and these really strong, tall black guys in starched white jackets would carry our trays to the table. I'm sure that they weren't all tall or strong, but they were to me, cause I was a kid. And we could always get a dessert, but usually couldn't finish it because we got so much food. Many good memories of Morrison's.

At least in Orlando, the Morrison's on Colonial was taken over by Piccadilly several years ago. Then a couple of years ago, they closed up. The Piccadilly on Colonial became another store. The old Morrison's on International Drive closed up and was torn down according to my recollection.

There was no buffet there, it was called Morrison's Cafeteria. A better cafeteria was the Biscayne Cafeteria, especially the one downtown. That place was beautiful! I was sickened to see that in the late 80's it was gone. For a REAL buffet you could have tried these:

Dahla Horse (8th street, sylvania Blvd)
Sweden House ( one on Biscayne, another at South Dixie and 150 St)
Duff's ( Hialeah ) the rotary buffet, we use to go there after Palm Springs Lanes
Sizzler ( it was good at one time)
The Flying Fish ( Naranja)
Various cat and dog houses ( Chinese restaurants ) As kids we always made fun of the Pu PU platter!

Also at the various social clubs there were buffet nights. Many of those are gone as well. Piccadilly did take over Morrison's but although the food is good, it is too expensive for a big guy like me.

I remember Morrisons in Coral Springs, outside of the mall. I moved to Coral Springs as a 6th grader in 1981. It reminded me of Piccadilly in Atlanta. I did not know Piccadilly bought them out. We ate a lot there. Memories..... LOL

Default Morrison's might be gone but IMHO what is just as good is...

Golden Corral. The steak there alone is worth the trip and I'm not a big meat eater but when I go, I head straight for the steak pit. Lots and lots of great food. Not Morrison's but the next best thing.

I do. I do. Golden Corral is pretty good. Their steak is about as good as some of the steak houses. Good stuff!

I see I'm repeating myself. Sorry.

I remember Morrison's as a kid. I loved going through the line and picking out what I wanted. There was always an older woman with a black hair net there who looked like she worked a few too many hours and was ready to hurl a bowl of jello at you, should you ask for one more scoop of mashed potatoes. Ah the memories!

I remember Morrison's very well. The best buffet, in my opinion, is Holiday House. Anyone ever eat there? I have eaten at one in Orlando and one in Deland. Are they still there?
