Im currently stationed at shaw in SC, I'm moving to Patrick AFB in december. We are hoping to purchase a home down there and we are looking for the best area's

20 minutes out or closer. Good Schools are a big deal as is, a decent local area for shopping and life in general. We live in Sumter now and just hate it. One walmart, a few chain restaurants, the closest shopping or any life at all is columbia 45 minutes away. SO we ant to avoid that.

Ive heard Melbourne isnt too bad, Rockledge, VIera, Cocoa, We wanna be east of 95 not to far from the beach.

Basically I just wanna know where to stay away from lol

ANy help would be appreciated

I'd post this in the Military area also because most 'civilians' have no idea what PCS is I am guessing.

there are past thread that you can search. Satellite Beach/Indiatlantic is a nice area with great schools. The housing prices are easily half of what they used to be at peak. Some homes are older.

My favorite neighborhood in Melbourne is Windover Farms. They have their own website that you can google. It is off of Post Rd, near BCC.

The good shopping is in Viera (super walmart, super target, new outdoor mall with all the typical stores) Viera neighborhoods are newer and have zero lot lines without mature trees.

Sorry I'm not much more help, but you can search for more.

Fearnofish, I changed the "PCSing" to "moving so that the civilians will understand. And I moved the thread FROM "Military Life & Issues" because there is little chance that the OP will find many in that forum who live near Patrick AFB. Many, if not most, folks in the FL forum actually live here and can give the OP MUCH more info.
