Nice neighorhoods near Tavares
Hi all,
My DH and I are considering a move for a job in Tavares. Where are the more upscale communities (including Tavares) we could be exploring for homes. Looking for a community with access to shopping, dining, some cultural offerings such as live theater, movie theaters; schools not important. Thanks in advance for your input.

Upscale in Tavares? In lil' ol' Lake County? Ummmmm, not sure that there are very many. What exactly are you looking for (in price range)?

Hello Madness! Looking for something newer, pool, in gated community, 400-600K. I guess I'm trying to get some idea of what it would be like to live in the area. What is available to residents in terms of lifestyle choices, such as area shopping, restaurants, etc

I would go to msn.com and check the RE listing in Tavares. You can click on options such as price, sq footage, bumber of BR's etc... and contact the local realtor there. Tavares is a small town, so I think you'll be pretty close to shopping and restaraunts as long as you dont look too far out...

OK, thanks! What other towns are within, say, a 30 minute commute that you would suggest.

You have some really awesome homes to choose from in and around the Tavares area, the neighborhoods below are as the crow fly's 15 (+ -) miles from the Florida Hospital Waterman, (family ties works for Florida Hospital).
Mt. Dora: Country Club Of Mt. Dora, Stoneybrook Hills, Sullivan Ranch, Loch Leven, Lakes Of Mount Dora, Homes Along The Chain Of Lake Shorelines
Eustis: Southernaire Plantation
Sorrento: Sorrento Hills
Groveland: Blue Spring Reserve
Leesburg: Plantation At Leesburg Chanticleer, Harbor Hills
Howie In The Hills: Las Colinas
Heathrow Country Estates would be a middle ground, beautiful!
My wife drives daily from Lake Mary down Route 46 and it takes about 30 (+ -) minutes depending on traffic and time of day, there are back ways into Tavares.

I think in Lake Co, you really cant go wrong. I mean, stay out of any ghettos and so forth, but overall, it's got nice areas (like mentioned above). I like Heathrow.

Look at Legends in Clermont, specifically the Carrington section where there are several resales in your price range--one was lived in for under a year and is on a double lot--or Nottingham which still has some new construction available. I live in Legends and work in Tavares, it's about a 25 minute drive even during "rush hour" with minimal traffic on a scenic country road through horse country.
Clermont offers shopping, dining, and a movie theater. Local community theater is available in several surrounding communities or in downtown Clermont. For professional theater, it's a 35 minute drive to downtown Orlando non-rush hour.

If you move to Clermont, I suggest the Sugarloaf area. Very pretty and it doesnt look like you're even in FL due to the hills and scenery.
