My husband and I got married in Micanopy - we just love it! We fell in love with the place right away. Back then we were in our early 20s and had to be the youngest people walking around, ha ha. I have been all over the country, yet I am always drawn back to that little town for some reason!

It IS wonderful, isn't it?
That whole Southern Alachua/Northern Marion area is quite beautiful.

cuba libre - It's a tiny, but charming little town that makes you feel like you went back in time about 100 years.
It's turned into quite the little art colony. Traditionally quirky, it was a hippie outpost - and sort of remains that way to this day.
Rent the movies Doc Hollywood & Cross Creek. Almost all of the "Town" scenes are of Micanopy. The residential shots in the movie are of another little town just South, called McIntosh.
McIntosh isn't much anymore, but they have a GREAT Festival there called "1890's Days." It's another little town from that period, but Micanopy is more well known.
If you ever find yourself in North Central Florida between Gainesville & Ocala, check it out!

Although I live in Miami, I think of it as a 'transitional' period of my life. There are too many other sights, smells & sounds in Florida to limit my time to one city. I often imagine (and even dream of) a living in other Florida cities, especially the ones I just mentioned. I can't say I've ever 'dreamed' about living anywhere other than Florida.

Well I only been to South Beach, Downtown Ft. Lauderdale, Orlando's Universal Studios, Kissimee and Pembroke Pines.
So to visit I would have to say South Beach and Orlando.
To Live definitely Pembroke Pines and maybe Kissimee even though it was a little strange there.

I like Sarasota and Sarasota County the best to live. Orlando is great to visit, but I've lived there once, and I like the Suncoast more. Cape Coral isn't a bad place either.
