Cool What are your favorite Florida towns, cities, etc.?

My 3 favorite places...

~I like the Ft. Lauderdale intercoastal area ,

~Stuart's outer banks ,

~and almost anywhere in the Keys - especially Marathon, the 8> of the Keys.

Although I live in Miami, I think of it as a 'transitional' period of my life. There are too many other sights, smells & sounds in Florida to limit my time to one city. I often imagine (and even dream of) a living in other Florida cities, especially the ones I just mentioned. I can't say I've ever 'dreamed' about living anywhere other than Florida.

For living there or visiting?

For visiting, I love Winter Park, Micanopy, Key West.
For living, I love Vero Beach, Sebastian, and Jupiter.

Many Panhandle cities and the area around Levy County on up the coast towards the panhandle...coastal yet still southern. I like Winter Park (some of it - some areas are bad), Oviedo, Jupiter, PBG, Stuart, St Augustine, Ponte Vedra, etc... I also like Sebring and Lake Placid, Clermont/Sugarloaf Mtn area due to it's hills. I also like Sanibel Island and Siesta Key areas too.

I must say I am really surprised by how many even know of Micanopy!

I love, in no particular order:

DeLand
Micanopy
New Smyrna Beach
Apalachicola
Fernindina Beach
Rural Leon County (the Canopy Roads)
Winter Park

floridadon is on a distinguished road
I relocated from Port Charlotte to Inverness. It was a great move. Citrus county has a great community spirit. Traffic is light, taxes reasonable, people are friendly, housing is reasonable, plenty to do. It is nice to be in an area where it is not unusual to meet families that have been in the area for several generations.

What's so great about Micanope? At least 2 of you have mentioned it.
