Shadozer is on a distinguished road
we're actually going in about 2 weeks. just booked a room in sarasota from the advice of many of you, thanks! we are not "locked in" to anything so i can always change my mind later if i want. we'll be there for a week so maybe we'll go to both or drive up for the day as gypsychic said! thanks again everyone!

thanks i can't wait!!! oh and we did you go miami allso 2 years ago and honestly weren't after seeing the beaches in sarasota we were really disapointed (the beaches in miami are still 10 times nicer than they are around here). we did have a blast down there though!

For what you are looking for I agree with the majority, Sarasota especially Siesta Key...it is BEAUTIFUL. I despise Miami though. Everyone has their own idea of a beach vacation some want clubs/bars with beaches and some want more relaxation and quiet, and some others want a mix. You can always drive up to St. Pete for Dali if you want.
I think the beaches in the Sarasota area cannot be beat (besides Hawai'i )
