Plenty of both in North Carolina, but how come they don't talk about it over there?

Am confused by many comments posted. First off, Naples doesn't seem to hold a monopoly on "rude" people -- they're everywhere. I agree that the majority of the people living there are from the Midwest and the second, but much smaller next group from New England.
I moved from Naples, not because I thought it was "bad" but that it no longer resembled the place I originally moved to and loved. It was time to move on to a place more suited to me now.
I regret that when I lived in Naples I didn't become involved with runaway development as a bonafide "citizen." Not that development is bad, just that it was really taken to extremes of "paving paradise" with what seemed to be no middle ground (or some common sense).
Advocacy is also part of living in a democracy and community (as opposed to complaining about outcomes without participating).
Naples lacks a true sense of "community" because most people live in gated communities or condos that isolate them. Why should they care what happens outside? (This point did numb my brain on this matter! )
Someone told me that it's always better to base a move "towards something" than rather "away from something," if you want it to be successful. Because everywhere you go: there you are.
And if your constantly at war with them, it's probably you!
Just a few thoughts. Also, if you hate Florida so much: stop complaining and leave! Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!

No, it's not. Atleast not like here in FL, I guarantee it. Go to the NC forum and ask them if NC comes even remotely close in crime and rude people. The answer will be no, believe me. Crime, sure, in Charlotte and so forth, some of the bigger cities, etc.
Rude people? Not like FL. Go on the NC forum and ask them, they'll tell you. In the years of living in NC, I can count the number of times on one hand how many times people were flat out rude to me. Here in FL, I can do it in one week. Not much comparison. And you haven't lived in both NC and FL, so I think I can speak on the matter.

That has no bearing on the origins of the people who live there. You live there, and you came from Long Island. Do you think you're the only Naples resident who came from the Northeast?

Tell me something I don't already know. Also, if your attitude towards certain ethnicity/regions/etc on the forum is any indicator of how you act in real life, that might be why you have a "rude people" problem.

^^^ I understand what you are saying, but I am the nicest guy in the neighborhood. I wave to everyone, I pick up trash in the streets that people carelessly throw out, I tell my neighbors to shut their garage doors at night so to make sure they dont get anything stolen, I was instrumental in getting a community watch program started in our subdivision, I mowed the lawn next door when it was foreclosed on, I give money to the Highway Patrol, church, the Fire Dept and everyone else who calls and asks for money (when I can). We take our neighbors' kids with us to the store, on bike rides, etc when they want to go with us.
There isnt a lot I will not do to help people. I obey the laws, I pay my taxes, I help people, I am cordial and friendly to everyone, doesnt matter to me what they look like. But when people treat me or my family with disrespect, try to break into our vehicles, try to run me off the road or honk and curse at me for stopping at a stop sign, if you curse at me for going the speed limit, etc... and these things usually happen with a certain group of people/ethnicity where I live, so yes, I might become a little impatient/unfriendly, but only when they have done something to me first that I didnt deserve.

but the majority of people in Naples, and the gulf coast, are from the Midwest. People from the NE are more on the east coast than here.

I'm not disputing that. My point was that the direction of Route 75 isn't a major factor in that.
Hell, I have in-laws who were originally from NJ who live in Ft. Myers and on Sanibel. Why? Because one brother- and sister-in-law went to Sanibel on vacation, fell in love with it, and relocated. My other brother-in-law relocated to a golf course community in Ft. Myers to be near them. And plenty of other people from NJ have relocated to SW Florida, and I have two girlfriends fron LI whose families relocated to Tampa.
It's not where you're originally from, but what you want out of life. We're from NJ and we're not going to either of the coasts -- we're going to Marion County because that's what suits us.
