Plus, the majority of transplants, snowbirds, retirees are from the Midwest states, not the NE.

This is your opinion, I happen to totally disagree with it.
You seem to have a major problem with the fact that there is a "season" there, where most businesses make all of their money in a short period.
That perfectly describes every single seasonal tourist town in the NE.
And yes, I HAVE seen cars from ALL OVER THE COUNTRY in Maine, NH, Mass, etc.
Your blind hatred of Florida is clouding your judgement more and more it seems.

IT ISN'T just beach season in the NE. That isn't when they make all their money from tourists. Much like Orlando, it YEAR ROUND because it isn't dependent on summer and beaches. There are other attractions.
Life doesn't just revolve around warm weather and beaches. People in other parts of the country have activities associated with the 3 seasons too.
Besides, the original topic was about NAPLES, not the NE, nor any other place in FLORIDA. Naples is very, very weird. This isn't just my opinion about Naples. Search out all the other posts about Naples.

Funny, I haven't seen any ski slopes in Portsmouth, NH; Kennebunkport or Ogunquit ME, Cape Cod; Cape May, NJ, etc. THEY ALL MAKE ALL OF THEIR MONEY IN THE SUMMER MONTHS - just like all the businesses in Naples make theirs in the winter months.

OK. So the person who made that statement was not only bigoted, but just plain wrong.

even though my daughter went to college in Portland. We spent a lot of time in New England for ICE HOCKEY. There were plenty of people and plenty of hockey teams up there. Oh, I forgot. People HIBERNATE in the winter months.

I think with this post you have almost perfected the art of totally changing the subject.
It would appear that you are completely incapable of admitting it when you are wrong.

Well, he's talking about beach resort towns, not the interior. You could also make the argument that there are other things (Disney) than the beaches going on in Florida.

Orlando is the exception to the rule (year round), but I suppose that is probably why Walt built it where he did.

For once I agree. I live in Ft. Myers and I make it a point to not go any further south on this coast than Bonita Springs. Naples and that part of Collier County really is one of the most snobbish places I have ever been to.
