Yeah, I love it when I hear someone on TV say KISS ah MEE.

Now in the two years since I left they may have started terraforming the area in preparation for development since it was probably next in line after they built out Chuluota, but the economy may have slowed that down...

Christmas has a lot of history....Ft. Christmas; and the park has a replica of the 1837 fort, built during the Seminole Indian War. Not to mention that people drive for miles & miles just to mail their Christmas cards from their tiny little post office.

And a lot of us appreciate a few places that haven't been developed yet!

Pittsburgh has some odd sounding town names. One is Moon township, PA and the other is Mars, PA. They are not far from each other either

Another one is Cranberry (township) and Plum. Cranberry is north of the city and Plum is east.

Fruit and space. That about says it all in Pittsburgh

Oh trust me. I appreciate undeveloped land as much as the next guy. Just my belief that there's a reason that Christmas hasn't been developed yet....

And yeah, wish I'd gotten by the fort while I was in the area. Why not?

The town of Christmas has some of the nicest and down to earth people you will ever meet. Sure it's small, has a funny name, and yes trailer parks too, but so what? You can go to some of the wealthier areas of FL and you see people that live in a nice house, have a nice car, etc... now go try to go talk to them........... about their nice car, the weather, the day your having, etc.......................and more times than not, you'll see it cant buy class.

You forgot Yankeetown and the Pithlachascotee River (which probably means something terribly prosaic in English, kind of like the 5-gazillion-syllable German word that translates into "speed limit").

Chaires, FL, was named after its founder (the wonderfully named Green Hill Chaires), and isn't the result of a love affair between an illiterate and his furniture.

Celebration, otoh, is a carefully crafted branding brought to you by Disney. I guess they had a hard time coming up with a good word for a cross between "soulless suburbia" and "the Rat That Ate Florida".

The folks in Truth-or-Consequences, NM, changed the town's name after the game show offered money to any municipality that would do it. I forget what it used to be.

And I kind of like Beaver Lick, KY. Yes, I know what a lick really is, but it's kind of evocative anyway.
