And for those who think Florida's tourists all stay home in the summer (too hot)... The 4th of July is our busiest holiday up here. In fact, I'm seeing nearly 100% occupancy across the board. That's why I didn't suggest to the OP that they come here in July for solitude.

That beach doesn't look very appealing to me. What's with all the plant life? Good for nature but not for a vacation. How are the waves? How far out can you go in the ocean? Can you take a miles long walk in the water?

[quote=laniee68;9335604]We are thinking of vacationing in Florida next month. We are looking for a nice beach that isn't crowded. A few years ago we drove through the Clearwater area and it was so crowded on the beach there's no way we could have found parking let alone enjoyed the beach.
We're not looking at any one place specifically. We do prefer the Gulf side though. Also, with 6 of us (we have 4 kids) we need someplace that's laid back and very budget friendly.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! (Quote)
The Emerald Coast is what you want. It stretches from Pensacola to Panama City and beyond. Youll easily find tons of places that are not totally crowded even in the height of the Tourist season. And alot of water sports and nice dining. www.emeraldcoastguide.com .

Take the ferry to Caladesi Island State park next time. It's just north of Clearwater area.
If you have access to a boat, try Egmont Key - a deserted island (complete with creepy ruins) a bit farther to the north. Or Anclote key too.
Or try some of the many little tucked-away places on the Forgotten Coast, in the central Panhandle.

Beautiful beach, sand doesn't gets as hot, water temp is a little warmer, but we couldn't see anything in the water. On the Atlantic side, even here in Miami, the water is clear. I get creeped out in murky water. Do the beaches in the panhandle have clear water? I've never been. The picture a pp posted looked beautiful. I love Jupiter. Only one hotel on the beach, very peaceful.

Generally speaking, yes, the water on the panhandle coast is clear...

Miami Beach (South Beach) has the best looking water I have to say, especially during the summer. It's like a warm pool. Definitely, not quiet though lol.

Please do explain why you don't like something. Don't just throw up words on the forum. It's okay not to like something but do go the extra mile in explanations.
