We're not looking at any one place specifically. We do prefer the Gulf side though. Also, with 6 of us (we have 4 kids) we need someplace that's laid back and very budget friendly.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

meaning that there are no waves in the gulf. If you want waves, go to the ocean beaches. I like waves. When my daughter comes, she likes to ride waves on her board. Unless there is a storm coming, there are no waves.

And for those who think Florida's tourists all stay home in the summer (too hot)... The 4th of July is our busiest holiday up here. In fact, I'm seeing nearly 100% occupancy across the board. That's why I didn't suggest to the OP that they come here in July for solitude.

YAY you posted 30A. For the life of me I couldn't remember that and only remembered "it's a place with numbers" lol.

As I said, you've obviously not been here and I don't know why you'd try to be an authority. Your statement is dead wrong.

"LIFE SHINES on 30A, a 20-mile scenic stretch tucked quietly between Destin and Panama City, Florida. Speckled with quaint and quirky villages, majestic coastal dune lakes, funky beach bars, world-class restaurants, 25,000 acres of protected habitats, and the world's most spectacular white-sand beaches, you can spend endless lazy days exploring narrow cobblestone streets, soaking-in sunset jazz, or just playing tag in the surf with dolphins and pompano. But bring your sunglasses. Life shines pretty bright here. B-)" 30A.com
"It's stunning: Not half a mile west of Panama City Beach, you fall into the pages of Architectural Digest."

The Gulf does tend to lack in waves unless there's a weather system somewhere between where you are and the Yucatan in order to stir things up to some degree.

I am not an authority, nor did I ever claim to be. I contend that your opinion of Daytona Beach Shores is dead wrong. You said my statement makes you lol. That is kind of rude.

If you'll re-read my statement... I highlighted the part that made me laugh.
I made no comment at all about DBS.

Alot of people seem to think that the Gulf is waveless and murky. That is consistent with my statement that "the gulf is pathetic compared to the east coast." When I go to the beach, I go for the waves. My family loves the big waves of the Atlantic.
We also were in Clearwater Beach 2 weeks ago, and we loved the area but the water can't compare to the water in Daytona. We do like both coasts though. More to do in Clearwater. But we are considering relocating to Port Orange.
