My husband and I are thinking of going to Ft. Pierce for a visit and possibly move after retirement if we like the area. iCan anyone tell me a bit about the area? If possible, I would like to be close to the beach/ocean. When we talk to rental agencies or realtors, we get a response of the property has beach access when asked how close to the beach/ocean the property is.

We're in the midwest but our mother in law has retired in Ft. Pierce. She seems very content with it and the housing prices there seem quite moderate.
