Default Where to live in North Florida?

I have been on this site several times looking for information on where to live in North Florida but there is such a broad range of answers to the question that most people ask of where to live in florida.

I currently live in the subarbs of Atlanta, I have lived here all my life and I am pretty bored with it. I would like to go somewhere where there is more scenary perferably of the ocean and no it doesnt have to be right outside my window Possibly just a 30 minute drive away.

I have family that lives in Brunswick, GA so I have been looking at moving to Jacksonville and I was wanting to know if there is any areas around there that is like the suburbs outside of Atlanta? I dont want to live in the city but I dont want to live to far away from it either so I guess Im looking for a place between the city and the beach.

I have also been considering the panhandle because I love it there that is where I take most of my vacations but how is the employement and how much would it be to live there?

Also I know how the weather is in Florida and the traffic is almost like how it is here in GA.
So for all you ney sayers please keep your comments to yourself.

I would say for what you desire based on your description check out Jacksonville and Tallahassee, They both offer great suburbs with a short drive to the coast.

The Panhandle offers the most variety in my opinion ; ive lived here for 4 months now from Illinois and i love the different things . Im 30 minutes (inland) from the Gulf Coast of Destin/Fort Walton , 30 minutes to Pensacola , 1 mile to I-10 , 10 miles to all the Shops I frequent , and live in the woods where my next door neighbors house is 500' away thru the forest. Its quiet, lots of nature, breathtaking view of the heavens , yet convenient. I like the people in this area alot ; there is a strong presence of civility, morality, ethics . My property taxes for the wooded 1 acre is a paultry $600 per year with 3 bedroom 1984 Mobile Home thats been upgraded . Purchase price for home and land was $58,500 ; if you dont want to go that cheap of living...then you can easily find alot of 3 bedroom 'regular' houses for $80,000 usually on a half acre. I dont know how Tally or Jacksonville is...but i suspect it doesnt offer what this area of the Panhandle does. And, it doesnt get as hot as middle or lower Florida does. If i can help you further with info, just let me know. (P.S. I found Trulia.com and Realtor.com to be good online sites for house hunting ; Craigslist too if you want to deal direct with the owner) . Good luck.

P.S.S. As for jobs, opportunities are less here for the most part...but...it does depend alot on your line of work. Looking at the Classified Ad section of Pensacola and Fort Walton newspapers, online, should give you a rough idea as to what is in demand. Also, there are a few employment agencies called 'Jobs Plus' around here which could give you an even better idea as to your chances of employment based on your Field.
