Default Another death caused by dangerous pet (this time in FL)

This is similar to the case with the monkey in CT. What is the point again of keeping these kinds of animals in the home? I forgot.

2-year-old strangled by pet python in Sumter County

OMG, what a sad story...Its sad that something like this happen, I hope that this shows people that some animals should not be family pets, they are best left out in the wild.

Sadly, as a side effect of this tragedy, it seems from the article (though not stated directly) that the owner stabbed the snake to death. Too bad an innocent animal (like that monkey, too) has to die because some goons decided to keep it as a pet.

Exactly. As a former pet store owner I am now anti-"pet". People are horrible with animals and need to leave them alone. They are on the earth with their own agenda and shouldn't have their right of way interfered with. Of course, for domesticated animals, it's too late so dogs and cats are euthanized by the MILLIONS yearly.

We had taken in an 11 foot albino burmese python pair from a dope in order to find them homes. They minded their own business and wouldn't hurt a fly. But they needed to freaking EAT and the "proper" meal for an animal that size is a small pig type size animal....even in the photos I can see that snake is underweight.

This won't be the last child killed by a python. They are now well established in south Florida and are spreading north.

Why anyone would keep a snake as a pet is beyond me.

I read another article (after I posted here) that said both snakes (I guess he had two of them) are still alive. It also said this was in a mobile home. How can there be room for 12-foot "pets" in mobile home?

I've really gotten to a point where they need to consider manslaugter charges for any pet owner who's pet kills a human being....

Maybe people would think twice before thinking they're "cool" and buying a pit bull, or THINK when they are going to have children in the same house with their pet scorpions or whatever....

I think the parents should be arrested for child endangerment. What kind of moron keeps snakes as pets (constrictors no less) when you have small children in the house? It's not the snakes fault, it's the dumb a** owners' fault and unfortunately a poor child had to die because of it.
