What percentage do attorneys typically recieve in a settlement?

30% or 40% plus expenses. Few lawyers will take a case that small.

Mango is right - that is a pretty small case. If you have hired an attorney your contract should indicate what the fee will be. If you have not you may want to consider small claims court. Generally the parties cannot bring attorneys with them, which keeps costs down. But you could consult one for an hour or ttwo for some pointers and pay an hourly fee.
