What we see now in the Bradenton/Sarasota area is the dealers are robbing each other, as well as those to whom they're dealing.

It always brings a laugh to see someone making a police report on money they lost during a drug transaction....

Florida's been drug testing since the mid 1980's, I'm not exactly sure what they're looking to find...common knowledge what jobs dictate what addictions.

Also, random drug testing is what's needed...if you're not on anything illegal for yourself, there should be no problem with testing.

According to what I've read it is in the larger cities but not so much in the rural areas or smaller towns more in Orlando. MS, GA and Al have more crack in their areas then we do here in Florida.

Crack is a huge problem in Lee County, Florida, even the very rural areas. We don't hear about that up in TN. It's meth, which was unheard of in Central to South Florida in 2005 but thriving in the rural areas of TN. And pills. That seems to be the scourge of the entire south, including Florida.

It's a major problem everywhere. I'm sure one state isn't worse, or better, than another because it's the sort of thing that's city or neighborhood based, not state based. Of course you could always find statistics that will say one thing or another, which will tell you what those statistics are worth. Obviously, cities like Daytona Beach are going to be very different than say Ormond Beach (I know these cities personally), and they're just a few miles apart.

Polk County had/has a huge meth and crack cocaine problem. I knew people involved with it, through some outlying family members that got involved....thank God they escaped before it got bad but, it was a horrible addiction....I can barely write about it without crying with fear and relief....pills are epidemic in Florida, as well. Drugs are everywhere. If you think you are safe in your snug little community or State, you are delusional I am afraid. Drugs are everywhere and if your kids are truthful with you, they know. But, it is how the kids are taught to handle these things from their home life and their ability to withstand peer pressure that will make the difference....
