Default Summerfield...

Summerfield is really small. I don't believe they have any schools... but you would be in a very good location to send your kids to school in Marion or Lake county. The Villages is a concern, though, because a good portion of Summerfield is consumed by The Villages. Otherwise, a small little place close to everywhere.

Yes, the area is growing. I was just there last week for work. It borders Marion, Sumter and Lake counties. The Villages is a senior community just south. LOTS of seniors. If you have kids, I would recommend Lake or Marion where there is a younger demographic. I live in Lake County. Not sure about the schools. Not many daycare options. Very rural still.

Hello!
I too am contemplating a move to Summerfield, Florida 34491. Any additional information regarding community, employment, what homes have sold for etc. would greatly be appreciatd. I'm also concerned that most homes have septic sytems and well water. Any comments regarding this is also appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

Default I posted this in another thread recently...

Summerfield is very rural. Orange Blossom Hills is pretty close to the Villages. I was looking at a 24 yr old CBS home over in that area (3/2 possible 4/2 on 1/2 acre) for $119K, it has a great lot with very mature trees to shade the home.

The location is good... close to 441/301 and within 20 minutes of both I-4 and I-75. You are located minutes away from most major restaurants, shopping, service and entertainment. I will have to take some more photos... I will try to get some of OBH too.

ADDING: Yes, there ARE schools, it depends on WHAT area of Summerfield you live in, there is Harborview ele., Wiersdale Middle & High as well as Belleview ele., middle & High. Summerfield is pretty LARGE, just very spread out and rural (as I stated before). Homes run from mobliles in the $60's + and block homes from the Low $100s.

even though "The Villages" is a 55+ community, the local area is very family friendly! We go there often, it is nicer than Ocala and traffic is a bit better.

You will find Many Doctors, clinics and therapeutic facilities in the area as well.

I would suggest it to anyone looking for a laid back rural atmosphere, but still looking for easy access to conveniences.

Summerfield is in Marion County, which equals lower taxes, insurance, and electric service.

It is within 15 minutes of some very relaxing fishing on the Oklawaha River, hunting or camping in the Ocala Forest, some local entertainment in Silver Springs Park or Uncle Donald's Farm (lady lake) AND the Market of Marion Fleamarket.

Oh, one more thing, The local Cable company is now running new Cable lines down Rt 42, so many people will now be able to receive cable TV and Internet by the end of the year.

It is a Very nice area, so long as it does not over-grow, you will get the feel of the Florida I remember as a kid!!!!
