Anyplace that has more pride in its past than its present or future is not somewhere I want to be. Southern pride USUALLY = pride in being rebellious traitors to the Union in the mid-1800s.

Not just New Yorkers. New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Massachusettes sent many "colonists" down to South Florida. It makes for an interesting mix of people After all, the Northeast Atlantic states, along with the West, are the most prosperous areas in the country with generally much better social indicator scores (less divorces, murder, abortions, etc.) than the South..... so..... the loud in-your-face New Yorkers must be doing something right.
